Epoxotherm
Submersible Insulating Ceramic Coating
EPOXOTHERM is
a ceramic-based, two-part epoxy with the ability to be submerged and add insulation
value to the substrate it is coated over. It is also built to insulated wet
surfaces. It combines the ceramics of Super Therm® for exceptional reflective
and insulative abilities, with the toughness and submersible capabilities of
the best epoxies
Benefits
- Equivalent to 4-6 inches of batt fibreglass insulation in lab testing
and field results, from a layer only 2 mm thick.
- Submerge safely after only 48 hours of cure time.
- Apply directly to damp surfaces with no threat to adhesion.
- Direct-to-metal coating for ease of use, and will also coat concrete,
polyurethane foam, and wood.
- White in colour and rough in texture for maximum performance.
- Prevents mold and mildew from forming.
- USDA approved for use in and around food preparation areas.
Uses
- Any underwater situation where conventional insulation cannot be applied.
- Protects concrete from being damaged by expansion and contraction due to
thermal shock caused by the direct sun and change of seasons.
- Temperature-control concrete pools or containment areas for better efficiency.
- Control and hold heat inside swimming pools. Applied along with ENAMO GRIP
as a pool lining, it controls heat conduction to the groundside of the pool
wall.
- Repairs, seals and insulates basement walls for houses and businesses.
- Reduces the levels of condensation on cold water pipes.
- Reduce condensation on walls (i.e. ice arena change rooms) to prevent the
growth of harmful mold and mildew.
- Insulates hoppers on asphalt trucks to reduce heat loses on route.
Application
Although EPOXOTHERM can be applied by non-professionals, Superior Products Europe recommends using a certified applicator. Contact Superior Products Europe for details.
Preparation:
- Surface must be clean with no loose debris or particles, rust, dirt, oil,
films or residues of any kind. EPOXOTHERM will cover previous coatings if
they are fully adhered to the surface.
- Mechanically stir base, as ceramics will tend to settle.
- Mix curing agent into base and let sit for 30 minutes before applying.
Application methods:
- Airless or pot sprayed: tip size 0.89mm; apply in three coats.
- Roller or brush: apply in four coats.
- Add an additional coat for vertical surfaces

Limitations
- As with any epoxy, EPOXOTHERM will chalk and loose gloss when exposed
to UV rays. For outdoor use overcoat with ENAMO GRIP or Super Therm®.
- Do not use as a stand-alone floor coating.
- Do not used directly on food preparation surfaces.
- Do not apply over chlorinated rubber. Even after sandblasting, the
chlorination can attack the solvents and brittle the coating.
- EPOXOTHERM is not as elastomeric and does not bite into the metal
or tar, rubber, etc. as well as Super Therm®.
